In Angola, Africell worked directly with the Catholic University of Angola, the Methodist University of Angola, Jean Piaget University and the Higher Institute for Information and Communication Technologies (INSTIC) to recruit 100 high-performing candidates, 30 of whom were selected for the internship program.
For Jorge Vazquez, CEO of Africell Angola, on top of creating a positive impact on the lives of young Angolans, the program also brings a privilege and an important opportunity for the company itself since, at the end of the program, the interns with the best performance will be considered for full-time jobs at Africell.
“The program will give Africell access to the best young talent in the market. This gives our company a competitive edge and will make our team even stronger and more diverse,” explained Jorge Vazquez.
The Future Leaders Program follows a successful project called “Caminho do Bem”, created by Fundação Arte e Cultura and currently managed by the Africell Impact Foundation. The project gave internship opportunities to young adults from foster homes in Angola, thereby boosting their confidence and career prospects.
Another inspiration for the program was the project carried out with Casa do Impacto and the London School of Economics, which provided entrepreneurship and innovation training to emerging leaders from Africell, the National Space Program Management Office (GGPEN) and MINTTICS.
Africell is committed to investing in Angola not only by providing excellent telecommunications services, but also through impactful investment in education, arts and culture, and the Future Leaders Program is a strong example of this approach.
